Sunday 14th November saw our first Full power Powerlifting competition at Fierce Gym, a qualifying event for the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association.
The studio usually used for Brazilian Jui Jitsu or Yoga was set up with a platform and our Eleiko competition power rack and calibrated competition Eleiko plates and specialist bar.
The day started at 8am with a weigh in for all the athletes and we had a range of lifters from 60kg women to 125kg men aged between 24 and 48.
Lift off was at 10am and all lifters had 3 attempts at their lifts – Squat, Bench and Deadlift with some amazing weights being lifted.
Fierce members and BDFPA refs Tom and Habee Hamilton ran this well organised event with Fierce owners Jess and Paul and some volunteers to help with spotting the lifts and loading and unloading the bar.
We received great feedback from all who attending to lift and to spectate about how it was a smooth, enjoyable and relaxed event for all.
Trophies were given out for the top lifters in each weight category and a selection of Fierce merchandise for the male and female “lifters of the day” calculated based on the weights they lifted against their bodyweight.
All who participated received a medal to recognise their achievement.
We look forward to running more events with BDFPA in 2022 and hope to host some regional and even a national event.
